Orange County, California, has some of the highest bail amounts in the country. The bail amount is set forth in what is known as the Bail Schedule. It covers both felonies and misdemeanors. A person who has been arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will initially go through the booking process at the Orange County jail, and will then be given a chance to make a phone call. Often, this call is made to a family member. This family member may then decide to contact an Orange County bail bonds agent in order to get the defendant released as soon as possible. It is critical to get someone bailed out so that they can help to prepare their criminal defense with an attorney. A ten percent premium is paid to the bail company, and the bail company then posts a bond for the entire amount of the bail. This is known as getting bailed out.
